World Peer Association will Investigate the Shooting Death of Michelle Cusseaux by Phoenix Police

Phoenix Arizona, September 30, 2014: Daniel Morrow, Founding Member and Executive Director of the World Peer Association announced today that he will launch an independent investigation into the Phoenix Police shooting death of Michelle Cusseaux, a woman who suffered from mental health challenges, a diagnosed mental health disability.

World Peer Association, a recently established, not for profit organization, comprised of members with lived experience from mental health challenges or substance challenges or both. The organization provides resources to people with lived experience from mental health challenges as well as advocates for the rights fellow peers.

Members of the World Peer Association are troubled regarding the unnecessary and unjustified death of a person with a known disability. Michelle Cusseaux was in a moment of crisis, on her way for emergency medical treatment when her death was caused by a Phoenix Police officer.

The World Peer Association will seek full cooperation in its investigation from DPS and the Phoenix Police Department. The World Peer Association expects to forward its findings and recommendations to the governor’s office, the ACLU and the Attorney General of the United States.
